Frequently asked questions about opening hours

  • Opening hours vary throughout the year. During the main season, the museum is generally open Tuesday to Sunday, with extended opening hours during holidays and the summer season. Check the opening hours above when planning your visit.
  • During selected holidays and the summer season, we are open seven days a week. Unlike many European museums, which are traditionally closed on Mondays, the Open Air Museum is open every day during the summer season and other season holidays. The museum is closed on most Mondays outside the main holiday periods.
  • The museum is open for most of the year, but opening days and hours change with the seasons. The museum closes after Christmas and reopens for the Danish winter holiday in February.
  • Not quite. We gradually open and close the museum’s farmsteads and historic buildings during the first and last hour of the day. If you want plenty of time to explore inside the houses, we recommend visiting between these times.
