Join us as the Harvest Market returns to the Open Air Museum in Lyngby for the third year, with activities and experiences for the whole family.

For the Harvest Market, we bring the traditional marketplace to life with local craftsmanship, seasonal produce, living history and old traditions. In days gone by, the harvest feast was the highlight of the year and we’re bringing that same festive spirit to a harvest weekend for the whole family.

Taste the best of the season. Let the children loose among the hay bales. Discover traditional seed varieties, join a fermentation workshop, go apple picking and pick up tips for your own garden.

This year, for the first time, the lively Harvest Market moves to the two large fields by the museum’s main entrance, close to the newly opened Café Høstak

Explore with all your senses among up to 15 stalls featuring talented local producers and artisans, offering a wide selection of delicious locally made and grown products, as well as unique handicrafts.

The activity booths will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The autumn market offers fun and crafts for all ages. Try plant dyeing, mix your own apple blend, and go apple picking among the beautiful colors - you might even win a prize.

Listen to folk music and have a dance

Music and dance

Enjoy the sounds of live folk music filling the market throughout the day.

In the afternoon, the festivities pick up as the musicians invite everyone to join the dancing and show you the steps of traditional Danish folk dances. Everyone can take part - whatever your age or experience.

At the Autumn Market, we celebrate all the gifts nature has given us throughout the year. That is why this weekend’s guided tours will focus on the forest’s pantry and our historic gardens.

No harvest market is complete without good food and drink!

Food and drink

Grab some lunch at the market stalls or in the café.

In the food stalls and at our newly opened Café Haystack, guests can satisfy both small and large appetites. And in the marketplace, we serve whole-roasted free-range pork from our own pastures, as well as vegetarian alternatives.

Meet the volunteers

You can recognise our volunteers by their traditional dress.

Throughout the year, they plant, tend and care for the museum’s kitchen gardens. Join them in harvesting herbs for tea, taste traditional varieties, and hear stories about the historic gardens and the plants that grow there. You can also meet the blacksmith at the forge, the millers at the mill, the craftspeople at Lundager farm, and many more around the museum.

FAQ

  • The autumn market takes place by the museum’s main entrance, so it’s a great place to start your visit. Here you’ll find our new, cozy Café Høstak, as well as ticket sales and parking.
  • No, you can also buy a ticket at the entrance. If you buy your admission ticket online, you’ll receive a 10% discount and get through the queue faster. The admission ticket also gives you access to the rest of the Open Air Museum.
  • It is not possible to reserve a place in the workshops in advance. There are a maximum of 25 places, so you can reserve a place at the workshop tent on the day in question. Places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • The ticket provides access to the entire museum, the market, music, animal presentations, and workshops. Some activity workshops and all products sold at the marketplace stalls require payment or an activity card. Admission is free for annual pass holders.
